Computer Viruses are now entrenched as a constant threat to computer networks worldwide.  The increasing ubiquity of Internet connections and email has greatly magnified the problem.  

While this firm did have a "corporate edition" antivirus solution installed, viruses were still finding their way in and wreaking havoc.  The fault was not the virus protection software per se, but unreliable and infrequent updating.  This is the Achilles heal of most anti-virus installations.   Virus outbreaks happen faster than the software can be updated. Enforced AntiVirus Updating

The genius of this product-combination is its automatic updating capability.  On a continuous basis, the firewall monitors each workstation for the presence of the McAfee VirusScan software.  If not present, the firewall forces the installation of the software before allowing the workstation to connect to the Internet.   Even if the software is present, the firewall checks for the most recent anti-virus update.  If not present, it forces the update.  In the event of a high-threat virus outbreak, the firewall automatically pulls the antidote from McAfee as soon as its available, and again enforces an update on all workstations.

Dramatically Reduced Labor Costs

This antivirus solution not only saves the labor associated with clean-up efforts after a virus infection, but because it functions so automatically, it requires virtually no administration.  Since it was installed there have been no virus attacks, and it simply runs itself.  The only administration required has been the installation of the annual subscription renewal license.
